Skill Level
Confident Beginner.
This pattern is classified as Easy in accordance with CYC guidelines as it includes simple stitch patterns, colour work and shaping.
However, whilst I would not recommend this as your first ever project, it can be done by an adventurous beginner.
You Will Practice

- The finished bear is approx 13cm tall
Yarn
Paintbox Cotton DK (50g/125m, 1.76oz/137 yards; 100% Cotton)
The choice of colour is entirely up to you, the gallery above shows a few different colours for inspiration.
- The main Sample used Misty Grey (Col No. 404, approx 44g/110m) for the main colour and strand of Granite Grey (Col No. 407, approx 1g/2.8m) for embroidered details
Crochet Hooks
- 2.5 mm (or size needed to meet gauge)

- 9mm Safety Eyes
- Tapestry needle, stitch markers, scissors
Gauge
- Rnds 1-5 of the Bears Body = 5cm
Whilst understanding your gauge is important it is not critical for this pattern.
If you are intending on making more than one item in the collection then maintaining consistent gauge is vital for them all to fit together.
However, whilst consistency is important exact gauge is not critical for this project. A guide for working with different yarn weights/hooks/gauge (including alternative gauge and yardage for Jame C Brett Happiness DK) is provided as part of the basic bear pattern.
